Kroger

The Kroger Pharmacy/Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Residency Program focuses on training graduates in providing advanced patient care services in the community setting.  Residents trained through this program are prepared to:

  • Provide advanced patient care to a diverse population.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative team practice.
  • Educate patients, pharmacy students, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.
  • Deliver proficient managerial skills.
  • Exercise professional leadership skills through community and professional involvement.

The resident's activities include:

  • Providing direct patient care services within the community pharmacy setting.
  • Patient education and counseling.
  • Screening and monitoring.
  • Dyslipidemia
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Osteoporosis
  • Immunizations
  • MTM Services
  • Participation in delivering diabetes self-management training at an ADA recognized program (Kroger Health Solutions Center for Diabetes in Alpharetta, Georgia). 
  • Participation in medication therapy management services and patient education at the Good Samaritan Health Center, a non-profit physician office in downtown Atlanta.
  • Providing pharmacy care and consulting services for assisted living homes serviced by the Kroger Health Solutions Long Term Care Pharmacy.
  • Assisting with leading a biweekly diabetes support group with the Physician's Care Clinic in Decatur, Georgia.
  • Teaching, research and literature publication at Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
