Mercer University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program will be nationally
recognized as a leader in practice, education, and research.

The mission of the Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Physical Therapy Program is to prepare doctors of physical therapy
who will be advocates for the health promotion of individuals and society, and
who will be dedicated to patient/client-centered clinical excellence, lifelong
professional development, and scholarly activities.

We endorse and promote the core values of the College of Pharmacy and Health
Sciences and the core values of professionalism in physical therapy which include accountability, altruism, compassion/caring, excellence, integrity, professional duty, and social responsibility.

To achieve its mission, the Physical Therapy Program goals will:
- Value a learning environment that promotes professional behaviors in all settings among students, faculty, and staff.
- Foster culturally sensitive communication skills among students, faculty, and staff.
- Develop a physical therapist who is responsive to the diverse spiritual, socioeconomic, cultural, and psychosocial needs of patients, clients, families, caregivers, healthcare and educational systems and society.
- Provide an environment where students engage in active learning and clinical reasoning in order to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills across the continuum of care and across the life span.
- Provide opportunities for students and faculty to engage in collaboration, coordination, and consultation with other healthcare professionals, government agencies, and educational systems for cli
- Foster an environment for faculty development in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Promote the inculcation of ethical behaviors and professional ethical principles in both students and faculty.
