Welcome from the Director
I am pleased to welcome you to the homepage for the developing Physical Therapy program at Mercer University.
As an integral part of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, located on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus in Atlanta, Georgia, the Physical Therapy program plans to offer:
a professional program in physical therapy (Doctor of Physical Therapy) and
a post-professional residency in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy for practicing clinicians.
Mercer University is seeking accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; phone 703-706-3245; accreditation @apta.org). The program plans to submit an Application for Candidacy by December 1, 2009. Submission of this document does not assure that the program will be granted Candidate for Accreditation status nor does it assure that the program will be granted accreditation.
Mercer University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s, master's, and doctoral degrees. Pending approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Commission on the Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), we anticipate matriculating our inaugural DPT class in August of 2010.
