Lisa Lundquist, PharmD, BCPS
Interim Chair and Program Director, Physician Assistant Studies
Assistant Dean for Administration
Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Lisa Lundquist attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham for undergraduate studies and completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at Samford University.  She completed a Specialty Residency at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with an emphasis on primary care and academics.  Dr. Lundquist has previously served on faculty at The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and her clinical practice experience and interests include diabetes, dyslipidemia, anticoagulation, and the education and training of health care providers. 

Dr. Lundquist has more than 50 published abstracts and manuscripts and has given more than 100 professional and scientific presentations at local, state, national, and international meetings.  She has completed an Academic Leadership Fellows Program and has received several awards including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacist Best Practice Award (2004), Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year (2005), Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Distinguished Educator Award (2008), and Rho Chi Professor of the Year (2011).

Philip Brachman, MD, F.A.C.P.
Clinical Professor and Medical Director

Dr. Brachman received his medical education and training from Emory University School of Medicine, where, after receiving his M.D. degree, he completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine and his fellowship training in Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Brachman is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). He is certified as an HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Brachman is the current president of the medical staff at Piedmont Hospital through December 2010. Previously he has served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and as Secretary/Treasurer of the medical staff. Dr. Brachman actively pursues clinical research in both Infectious Diseases and HIV. He remains active with the Pharm. D. training program at Mercer University and serves a preceptor for various training programs associated with the Emory University School of Medicine.

Jill Mattingly, MMSc, PA-C
Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator
Prior to receiving her Masters of Medical Science at Emory University Physician Assistant Program, Professor Mattingly taught high school Anatomy & Physiology and Biology for ten years in Florida and Georgia.  She also served as an EMT-I in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.  After graduation she practiced Internal Medicine for six years with an interest in Integrated and Alternative medicine.  Professor Mattingly began to practice Addiction Medicine in 2005 and eventually became the Director of a private drug and alcohol treatment facility in Norcross, Georgia.  She created and hosted a call-in radio program on addiction issues for two years on WGKA 920AM in Atlanta.  Originally from Kentucky she spent time in Colorado where she received her BA in Biology from Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, Colorado.  Her interests cover a myriad of activities including trail running, mountain biking, hiking, as well as, oil painting, guitar/piano, and musical theatre.

Donna Crawford, MPAS, PA-C
Clinical Assistant Professor and Associate Clinical Coordinator

Professor Crawford’s primary interest includes Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery. She has completed her Master’s degree at the University of Nebraska and has been practicing for over ten years. She is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and attended Medical College of Georgia Physician Assistant Program. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, she gained various healthcare experiences as a Histologist and Research Laboratory Technician. Her hobbies included piano, traveling and gardening.

Lisa Dickerson, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor

Lisa Dickerson joined the faculty fulltime in September 2010 after serving as a guest lecturer in the clinical medicine course for two years. A native of Atlanta, Dr. Dickerson attended the University of North Carolina as an undergraduate and then went to medical school at Emory University. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994 and then came back home to practice at Piedmont Hospital, where she spent her entire clinical career. Although she enjoyed clinical practice, the opportunity to teach at Mercer was too good to pass up! She is happy to have a hand in helping train the next generation of health care providers.

Nancy McLaughlin, MPAS, PA-C
Clinical Assistant Professor

Nancy McLaughlin obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Quincy University, Quincy, Illinois in 1995. She enlisted as a medical specialist and went on to orthopedic specialist training. Professor McLaughlin was accepted to the Inter-service Physician Assistant Program at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Upon completion of her clinical rotations at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, she was commissioned as a second lieutenant. She obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska.

Professor McLaughlin was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany for 5 years. Upon completion of her military commitment, she accepted a position in Atlanta, Georgia working in the field of plastic surgery.  She has been working as an independent physician assistant first assistant for the past three years.
 
She enjoys spending time off with her daughter Emily, and her son Andrew.

 

Heather Schmidt, MMSc, PA-C
Clinical Assistant Professor

Heather Schmidt attended McDaniel College and studied Psychology, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in Clinical Psychology.  After this, she studied Biology at the University of Maryland, and then entered the Physician Assistant program at GWU.  Professor Schmidt earned her MS in Health Sciences with Honors, from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2000, and began her career as a PA-C.  She has been practicing clinically since graduation, working in the Washington, DC area, in Emergency Medicine.  Additionally, she has worked in a family practice clinic in Southern Maryland, increasing her primary care and rural medicine experiences.  Ms. Schmidt has used her clinical knowledge to teach workshops for hospital and office staff, as well as for community interpreters for the deaf, seeking to work in the medical field.  She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society for Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants.  

A lifelong resident of Maryland, Professor Schmidt has recently relocated to the Atlanta area.  In her free time, Heather enjoys traveling, running, cooking, and spending time with her two dogs, Max and Millie, and her family and friends.
