Dear Prospective Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the new Mercer University Physician Assistant Program housed in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. I believe you are considering one of the most exciting and significant medical professions for the 21st Century. We are building our program to meet the needs of future PA professionals, and we are excited to offer this program to you.
Mercer University has a proud history of developing professional programs to address the work-force needs of Georgia, including the establishment of its medical and engineering schools. The Physician Assistant program will continue that tradition by preparing and educating some of the highest quality “patient-centered” providers in the United States, with emphasis on evidence-based medicine, informative, and the appreciation of ethical values and human diversity.
The Mercer University Physician Assistant program has received provisional accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). I encourage you to visit the American Academy of Physician Assistants web site - www.aapa.org - and review the sections related to Information about PAs, the AAPA, and PA Programs.
The program’s faculty is working hard to establish one of the finest curriculums among national PA programs today that is supported by our passion and commitment for ensuring the highest-quality educational experience for our students. We strive to be student-centered teachers who are helping to mentor ethically sound patient-centered providers.
