Aldridge to Speak at Pinning Ceremony

ATLANTA — Steve Aldridge, RPh, MAd, CGP, FASCP, Clinical
Manager for Medical Arts / Omnicare, will be the featured
speaker at the Mercer University College of Pharmacy and Health
Sciences' Doctor of Pharmacy Pinning Ceremony on May 8 at the
Sheffield Center on Mercer's Atlanta Campus.
The Pinning Ceremony marks the transition of pharmacy
students from didactic to experiential education. During the
event, the students are presented with a specially-designed pin
that commemorates the occasion, and they reconfirm their Pledge
of Professionalism.
Mr. Aldridge received his Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, his Masters in
Administration of Business from Brenau University, and completed
a certificate program in Health Care Administration at Trinity
University in San Antonio, Tx. His professional experience
includes service as a consultant for long term care facilities,
assisted living facilities, AIDS Hospice, IV therapy, and
Hospice Care and as a preceptor for Mercer's Doctor of Pharmacy
degree program. He was selected by Mercer students as Preceptor
of the Year in 2008. He previously served as Hospital Pharmacy
Director for Lanier Park Hospital. In 1994, the American Society
of Consultant Pharmacists honored Mr. Aldridge for his unique
and innovative educational endeavors through “Healthline”, a
weekly radio program that focuses on geriatrics and reaches over
15,000 listeners, and his involvement in co-hosting the Ludlow
Porch show that reaches an audience of over 800,000 listeners.
In 2003, the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy
(CCGP) and AstraZeneca presented Mr. Aldridge with their
Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award, which annually
recognizes a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist who fosters the
principles of good pharmacy practice; demonstrates excellence in
geriatric patient care; and, promotes the value and rigorous
standards established by CCGP.
