Pharmacy Student Receives NACDS Scholarship
January 15, 2009
ATLANTA — Jancie Hatcher of Mercer University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences received the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation Pharmacy Student Scholarship.
Out of more than 450 applicants nationwide, Hatcher was one of only 85 scholarship recipients. Students selected for the Foundation scholarships must be enrolled as full-time pharmacy students, have experience in chain community pharmacy, and have a desire to pursue a career in chain community pharmacy. Students are evaluated based on their career goals, interest in chain community pharmacy practice, and their credentials, including leadership activities and professional and community involvement.
Hatcher currently resides in Duluth, Georgia. She earned a
bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, a master’s degree
from Georgia Tech, and is expected to graduate in 2010 from
Mercer with a doctor of pharmacy degree.
The NACDS Foundation is the education, research and
charitable affiliate of the National Association of Chain
Drug Stores. The NACDS Foundation supports programs that
advance and strengthen the chain pharmacy industry for the
benefit of the public it serves. Among its activities, the
Foundation provides scholarships for pharmacy students and
supports pharmacy education programs that address the needs
of community pharmacy practice. Additionally, the Foundation
supports research efforts documenting community pharmacy’s
role and value in America's health care system, as well as
addressing effective and safe use of medicines.
