We're looking for globally-minded students to participate in the International Pharmacy Program.
The International Pharmacy Program opens the door for you to experience pharmacy practice in your host country firsthand. You'll have hands-on experiencing in hospital and community pharmacy. You'll meet pharmacy association leaders and key representatives from the health ministry and from pharmaceutical industry who will make professional and practical aspects of pharmacy practice come alive in your host country.
The program is offered as an advanced practice experience in the fourth professional year at Mercer. Sites in Europe and the Pacific Rim are available; up to two students will be assigned per site. The program allows students to gain personal experience and growth from living and practicing in another country as well as insight into the health care issues and problems abroad.
What Participants Receive
- Opportunity to participate as an international pharmacy student
- Opportunity to live in another country and experience a different culture
- Opportunity to compare and contrast pharmacy practice based on firsthand experience
- 5 semester hours of credit awarded on the Pass/Fail option
- $750 tuition credit
Program Requirements
- Formal presentation to your host preceptor and colleagues
- Participation in all activities planned by your preceptor
- In-depth investigation of the country's health-care system, and the role of pharmacy and pharmacists
- Formal presentation of your findings
- Final manuscript describing your findings and experiences
- Preparation of travel and program diary
Selection Requirements
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Review of application by International Pharmacy Program Selection Committee
- Completion of all first, second, and third year courses
- Successful completion of practice experiences to date in the forth professional year
Eligible students should apply in November of the third year.
