M.S., Medicinal Chemistry, Peking Union Medical College
Ph.D., Chemistry, Emory University
Research Interests
The research in Dr. Zhang’s laboratory focuses on enhancing bioavailability of BCS (Biopharmaceutics Classification System) Class II drug and controlled and targeted drug delivery.
Current research projects include synthesis and characterization of new surfactants and their applications in drug delivery systems. Specifically, this work seeks to characterize the solubilizing capacity of the new surfactants for a large variety of Class II drugs, to study the toxicity, and to understand the mechanism underlying the solubilization by molecular dynamic simulations.
Dr. Zhang’s laboratory is also interested on synthesis and characterization of drug conjugates to treat cancers with multi-drug resistance.
