Welcome to the Mercer Center for Clinical Outcomes Research and Education (CCORE). The mission of CCORE is to improve quality and outcomes in healthcare by providing pharmacy professionals the information and tools necessary to influence healthcare practice through research, education and professional growth. CCORE was established in May of 2008 to develop a coordinated strategy for outcomes research and education. The first part of the CCORE strategy is to develop a program of research that supports improvements in medication use and healthcare [Turning data into knowledge]. The second part is to provide education to patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and decision makers who are best positioned to improve outcomes [Turning knowledge into action].
CCORE faculty will seek and develop collaborative relationships with key business and community entities to accomplish these goals. Our first strategic partnership is with Total Therapeutic Management (TTM), one of the nation’s premier chart-review-based outcome research and education firms. TTM’s experience and expertise in the following areas are a valuable resource and will increase the capabilities of CCORE:
- Data collection from all sources including medical charts
- Clinical reporting and education of outcomes results,
- Development and execution of outcome-based academic detailing programs,
- Maintenance of disease specific outcome registries and
- Development and publication of guidelines.
CCORE will work closely with other faculty and with our strategic partners to:
- Promote the center and expand our opportunities for collaborative research
- Address the growing concerns for disparities in healthcare and patient safety across the continuum of care
- Provide educational opportunities to pharmacy students, residents, practicing pharmacists and other healthcare professionals and
- Develop, prepare and support pharmacists to take the lead in delivering evidence-based academic detailing to community physicians.
